Quite surprising to find out that basically only 2 out of 6 chapters were really interesting for me as an amateur film watcher. Most of the rest is pure data and history. But the two chapters I'm talking about (4 and 5) are quite consistent - not that one wouldn't be able to find that info googling for it, anyway; it's all about the aesthetics, the director as a creator, the scripts, the techniques, the sound - things to look for when you try to differentiate these films from the others, plus themes, actors and characters.
And of course now I'm really missing Antoine Doinel and I'd give anything to re-watch
À bout de souffle just to make sure I got everything right and notice all the little details I've missed before (not that this should ever be the purpose of watching a film - or consider any other work of art, for that matter!) and maybe try to like J-P Belmondo this time.
